Summer Essentials

(I know, I know I'm awful and haven't updated in so long! I feel like I all I do is give excuses but to be honest I have just started my GCSE'S, but that is no excuse! I also have been struggling with ideas of what to post so please let me know what you would like to see or what you think I should post as most of the time I have no clue!)

Hey Guys, this is my Summer Essentials that I have been pinning for recently, and might well treat myself too!

1. Bug Eye Sunglasses (Available here)

Okay I'm a hoarder.. but you can never have too many sunglasses right... and besides the fact that I always seem to lose my pairs and the fact that three of mine are currently at the bottom of a lake in the middle of France..

2. MAC 217 Blending Brush (Available here)

I always convince myself that I don't need this but it always creeps back onto my wishlist and I think that this month it might end up in my basket too.. Woops, its worth it right?

3. Revlon Lip Butter (Available here)

I only have one of these, and I need MORE! They're so natural and creamy on the lips! A summer staple defiantly! T

4. MAC Bronzer (Available here)

No Summer Makeup is complete without bronzing, and seeing as the fact that my Benefit Bronzer has hit pan and practically disappeared I think it's time to test out the MAC Bronzer as I've heard so many people love it!

5. MAC Lipstick in 'SHANGHAI SPICE' (Available here)

I've seen this raved about recently as a 'your lip but better' colour and I think this will be so beautiful  in the summer, so I've been longing to add this to my mini collection. 

6. TOPSHOP Blue Rosa Shorts (Available here)

I don't have any shorts that fit anymore... so time to add these bad boys into my Summer Waderobe. Besides, TOPSHOP shorts are a definite must in every Summer Wardrobe. 

7. MAC Pro long wear Concealer (Available here)

I am need of a new concealer as my Benefit Concealer has almost wasted away! And everyone and their cat's mothers rave about this. I also get really lazy with makeup in hot weather and only wear a concealer, so I really need a high coverage concealer to hide those ugly spots that keep making appearances!

8. Infinity Ring (Available here)

Everyone but me has one of these, there so cute and dainty! I think i'll defiantly get a lot of use out of this in the summer!

May Favourites

This year is whizzing by, it was only yesterday I was writing my christmas list; and were already half way into 2014! Which also means that it's summer, and there's only six weeks left of school! I'm thinking about doing a summer makeup and outfit look book if you would like. If you have any requests please please leave it in the comments below as I would love to do all of your requests!

1. MAC Paintpot in 'Chrome Angel'
I bought this little beauty around January/February time, but hadn't really used up until two weeks ago. It's quite an unusual colour choice, but my eyelids are completly white (due to a skin condition - explained in an older post.) so this is basically a base colour. It gives a beautiful light shimmer and glides on easily.

2. Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes Mascara
This mascara, wow. Everything I ask for in a mascara. It's volumizing and elongating without being too clumpy. It literally glides on and lasts all day, without flaking off or smudging! Not much else to say than I have been loving this!

3. MAC 234 Brush
I don't normally wear eyeshadow as lets be honest I'm a bit lazy but I am trying to wear eyeshadow more often. But this brush helps to easily create a smokey eye, and shades and blends like a dream and I'm thinking of adding the 217 to my growing collection.

4. V05 Smoothly Does It Heat Protect Serum
Seeing as I straighten my hair everyday I did use heat defence spray but it took forever to dry and left my hair feeling slightly greasy, so I went on a hunt and found this beauty. It keeps my hair straight all day and leaves it feeling and looking sleek and smooth.

5. Real Techniques Contour Brush 
I think I always have a Real Techniques Brush in my favourites, woops! But I have been loving this brush seeing as its summer and I always contour in the summer. This brush just makes it so much easier to reach the hollows of your cheeks.

Spring/Summer Outifts

(Okay, I'm trying to get over my fear of showing my body over the internet, I am a size 8 but I'm quite curvy (shudder, shudder) and I have quite a few body fears, like most teenagers! But I really wanted to show you some of my favourite summer outfits!)

I normally go for a quite simple plain top and shorts look, quite casual and boring but I've decided to change up my summer style and go for something a bit more edgy and stylish. I have listed this as both Spring and Summer as in England all the season's merge together so we basically just have a cold season and a warmish season.

Outfit One:

This outfit is inspired by an outfit I recently saw on the Zara runway with a sleek ponytail up-do. I think this look could be dressed up to look smart, or dressed down to be more casual. It's also quite versatile, you could wear it to the beach with a floppy hat, or out to dinner (with a different top of course) and it could look totally cute with the trousers over a bikini. I adore this outfit.

Outfit Two:

This outfit is rather girly, but could be dressed down with a biker jacket and combat/biker boots, with a quiff to give it more of an edgy vibe. So if you haven't guessed I've really into versatile looks that can be completely changed up.

Outfit Three: 

There's always those spring/summer days that are to cold to wear shorts, and too warm for a jumper so I personally think this is a great in-between and perfect for the windy summer days.

Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation

Back in February one of my best friends bought me the 'Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation' Up until recently its been in my makeup draw untouched however slowly but surely I've fallen in love with it.

Lily Lolo is an online makeup store that offers inexpensive and high quality makeup and is available here.

A little while back I had been lusting over new foundations but I'm trying to save up for my trip to America. (Because who wouldn't make use of the favourable exchange rates and typical lower prices!) Anyway, back to the point I had been lusting over new foundations and after rummaging through my stash I found this unloved beauty and fell back in love.

The formula is silky and lightweight, and lies softly and evenly across your skin; i've also finally found a foundation/powder that does not look cakey, and doesn't cling to dry patches or spots that you may have across your face, whilst stays in tack all day! It is made with all natural ingredients to keep skin healthy and minimise breakouts!

I think finally I've found my holy grail foundation, and will hopefully continue to stick with it. It is defiantly a 'your skin but better' foundation, and looks completely natural. I also think this will be my staple summer foundation seeing as it is lightweight and offers SPF 15. I would 100% recommend this, and also deffinatly reccomend checking out their online store and ordering a few bits!

Very Important Notice!

Hey Beauties,

I hope you are enjoying your bank holiday weekend as much as I have! Thank goodness its May, and the suns out! Time to update my wardrobe I think!

Anyway, I wanted to let you know about some important changes that will be happening throughout my blog! The first change is this was no longer be a beauty blog, it will be a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog! There will be minimal lifestyle posts and will mainly focal on beauty and fashion; because of this change it will be very likely my blog name/URL will change! So over the next few weeks I will be introducing fashion and a few lifestyle posts! This is going to be a very important change, as I know from reading other peoples blogs views go down and you loose readers! I completely understand how annoying it is to realise your favourite blog has vanished! So to stay in touch with this blog, you need to follow my blog to keep up to date with the changes! This is very easy, you can know follow via bloglovin or by google! It will take less than a minute, so please click that follow button! 

The second change is this blog will be going in for a makeover, over the next few weeks this blog will change dramatically. I want it to be more professional, sleek and colourful. I will have a new blog header, font, and design and general rearrangement! I am also hoping to include some more blog gadgets, and work out the positioning and sizing of my ads! I am so excited about this because it has been on my too do list for a long time! 

And the best thing is I will be hosting a GIVEAWAY! I am not entirely sure on what I will be including, although I am wanting to do a MAC Lipstick Giveaway, because I love my MAC lipsticks!  I will be hosting the giveaway as soon the changes are complete so hopefully within 2-3 weeks! Running Late Makeup!

We all have those days where we press the snooze alarm too many times than we should have done, and end up having to compromise with our traditional everyday makeup routine, and after having quite a few of those recently I decided I needed to finish this after it being in my drafts, and upload this for you guys!

So for me my hair is my first priority, so I will quickly clip in my hair extensions and if it's still styled from yesterday then I will leave it but if not then I will pull it to one side and plait it, leaving out my fringe. I will them secure it with a rubber band and tug out the loose bits to create a messy vibe. I use a bobby bin to secure the back so it won't fall out during the day! 

Face 

Now I move into my face, firstly I use my "PONDS Hydronourishing moisturiser", and blend this into my face and neck in circular motions. Because I don't have time for my usual BB Cream or foundation i'll will go straight into concealer. If you've slept in later than usually this is most likely because your tired so the aim of my makeup on thee particular days is to make me look more awake and less like a zombie! So I use my "Maybelline Fitme Concealer" this is a really creamy and easily blendable concealer. I apply this like a triangle underneath my eyes, on any spots that I have or any imperfections or redness I have. It is really quite an all round concealer. I then use my "Real Techniques Buffing Brush" to blend this in, I may alternate between using the brush and my fingers. Using a brush saves a lot more time hence why I'm using for a running late tutorial! I then use a brightening concealer underneath my eyes this will really brighten up your complexion. You can also use it down the bridge of your nose, above your cheekbones (see my recent post on How to Apply Blush, Bronzer and Highlighter) and on your brow bone. I like using the "Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer" or the "Benefit Erase Paste" in shade 01 as it is a lot lighter than my complexion. I then use my MAC Blush, which is a light link shade and apply this on the apples of my cheeks. This really just makes you look fresh faced and awake. I really recommend applying blush when your tired or running late - it can defiantly change your whole look! You can set this with a powder or setting spray, whatever works best for you! I personally prefer powder and use my "Mac Mineralise Skinfinish" and my "Real Techniques Powder Brush" to evenly apply this. 

Eyes

Eye makeup can really make you look wide awake, and alert so I personally find this the most important part. I first use a "Rimmel Eye Pencil in White" to line my waterline and inner corner this can really open up your eyes and it really creates a beautiful effect. I then use my "Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Cateyes Mascara" this is an amazing elongating and volumising mascara I really recommend this. I apply this on both my bottom and top lashes to really enlargen my eyes. It really makes you look wide awake. 

Lips

I apply my EOS lipbalm to smoothen my lips, and it gives a glossy natural look, and it tastes really good too! 

So this is my makeup routine if I'm running late it only takes a maximum of ten minutes with practise! All the steps are optional but this is what I recommend to look awake and ready for the day! Although I have used these products that does no by mean you have to use these exact products - these are the ones I use and love but you all have your personal preferences and favourites! Choosing The Right Concealer

Hi Beauties,

How have you been enjoying your easter holiday? I have not left the house. No joke, I left to go to bicster with my mum, and I went to my sisters work to earn some spare cash, so it won't be a surprise if I upload a beauty haul next week! And besides I needed to catch up on some seriously well earned beauty sleep! Anyway, back in september I uploaded a 'Choosing The Right Foundation' and lots of people enjoyed it, and it was quite popular, so I decided to start a series, and this will be the second of which! I hope you like this, and find it helpful!

"Choosing The Right Type of Concealer"

There are several different types of concealer, and they each work differently and will be suited to different types of skin. So this will help you choose the best suited concealer type for you.

Liquid Concealer
Liquid Concealer is defiantly the most popular concealer, as it is quite versatile. It has a build able coverage although some are pacifically designed as low coverage concealers or high coverage concealers. Most concealers are buildable, it seems like all concealers have these options. It is also the easiest concealer to blend quickly, and easily.  Which makes it the best concealer for blemishes due to the liquidy consitancy, and as it is easy to blend it won't agitate your spots, and won't clog your pores either. Hooary!

Cream Concealer
This concealer works best for covering discolarations. (Such as bruises or under eye circles) and will work best for someone with dry or sensitive skin. Cream concealers typically have a medium to full coverage. Because it has a thick consitancy it'll be easier to build on the coverage. Because of this you need to make sure you completely blend it out, so it won't look cakey. However it is most likely to crease, so it is best to set it with loose powder, to try and prevent this from happening.

Stick Concealer
Stick concealer is best for dry or sensitive skin, and the coverage is completely versatile - it can give a light or full coverage, this is best as it can be built up or completely blended out. It's great for hiding redness, and discolarations. Not really suitable for under eye circles due to the fact that it will crease easily in those areas. Although if you have acne or spots and are using a stick concealer, STOP! Because it is so thick it will clog your pores/spots/acne and will most likely agitate it. So stick concealer is best for discolorations or redness around the forehead, cheeks or chin.

Those are kind of the main three concealers, and they all work different and suit different skin types, so next will be how to choose and apply the concealer.

"Choosing The Colour "

Highlighting/Brightening Concealer
If you want a brightening concealer then you can get pacific concealers designed for brightening or choose a normal concealer which is lighter than your actual skin tone. Sometimes two shades lighter depending on the shade range. Brightening concealer is typically used underneath the eyes, brow bone, cupids bow or the nose - all depending on what you want to highlight.

Colour Correcting Concealer
These concealers are generally used for skin issues such as redness, or bruising/veins, or really bad under eye circles. A lot of drugstore companies are now following the high end companies and creating colour correcting primers/concealers/foundations. You want to apply these before your nomad concealer or foundation. So basically before anything else. Each colour will help to conceal certain things. Green conceals redness, Yellow will cover reins or under eye circles, lavender conceals bruising or yellow tones.

How To Choose
Likewise when choosing your foundation colour you should always colour match to your neck, or face never to your hand as although similar it will normally be one or two shades lighter, as you don't typically tan on your neck. When choosing your concealer you need to think about what your are targeting wether it be blemishes, or under eye circles, you can always find concealers that target the problem. You should also always find a second opinion so I recommend always checking out the reviews.

Applying The Concealer 
Also like foundation there are numerous ways to apply your concealer, you can use your hands which is the easiest to blend as it warms the concealer between your fingers and makes it easier to blend. When blending concealers, you should use your ring finger as it is the most delicate finger. Most concealers come with a wand, or brush on the end, to apply, and then you can blend with your fingers or a brush. Most brushes tend to have a specific use so its easy to find a brush to apply your concealer. I use the real techniques shading brush to apply my concealer as I find its the perfect size, and sue the buffing brush to blend in - although this isn't the most sensible brush to be using around my eyes seeing as it is so big, but it works for me. You should always choose the best tools suited to you, not any one else!
